Shots Fired: Investigation launched after deadly police involved shooting in Maple Heights

UPDATE: MAPLE HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - Authorities are investigating after a deadly police-involved shooting in Maple Heights.

Gunfire erupted late Wednesday afternoon just after 5:30PM inside a Summit Avenue home.

Police responded to the home after a woman reported her drunk son had assaulted her with a baseball bat.

Once inside, police tell 19 Action News there was an altercation, and an officer shot 60-year-old Mark Bican, who was still armed with the bat.

Bican was rushed to Marymount Hospital and pronounced dead at 6:44PM.

A woman was also taken to the hospital. No word on her condition at this time.
