Akron, OH - Trial begins this afternoon for accused cop killer Ashford Thompson.

Thompson accused of killing Twinsburg Officer Joshua Miktarian during a traffic stop last summer.

Miktarian pulled Thompson over around 2AM on July 13th on suspicion of drunken driving and for playing loud music.

The married father of a baby daughter was shot four times in the head at close range.

A three-judge panel will preside over the hearing because the 23-year-old waived his right to a jury trial.

Thompson charged with two counts of aggravated murder with death-penalty specifications, two counts each of escape and resisting arrest, three counts of evidence tampering and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.
