CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cuyahoga County Democrats gathered Saturday to elect a new Sheriff to fill former Sheriff Gerald McFaul's position

Robert Reid Jr., City Manager and the Safety Director of Bedford, won the job.

Reid will keep the position until the term ends in 2012.

Reid was appointed City Manager of Bedford in 2000. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Reid was a 25-year veteran of the Bedford Police Department with his final ten years as Chief of Police.

Former Cuyahoga County Sheriff Gerald McFaul resigned shortly after several scandals surfaced, McFaul cites his failing health as the real reason for stepping down.
