CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Somebody needs to tell President Barack Obama that denial is not just a river in Egypt.
The president…in his first State of the Union address Wednesday night … soft-pedaled but stubbornly refused to abandon the big left wing social projects that are wounding his presidency.
Speaking to Congress and the nation the president vowed to continue pushing his proposals for Health Care, Cap and Trade Energy Laws and other measures, which have so far failed to win passage and which are growing increasingly unpopular to voters.
In a half-hearted acknowledgment of the message sent by his party's defeat in Massachusetts…the President signaled at least a modest shift by his administration to concentrate on jobs and the economy, issues pollsters say most Americans care most about but it was clear in his performance this week that despite calls from many, including those in his own party to pivot towards the center, the President plans audaciously to stay the course.
Given the mood of the country…it sure sounds like denial no matter how you define it.
