(WOIO) - The Obama administration and the Democrats in Congress are catching a lot of flack these days for massive spending programs which have led to record deficits. But overspending is a bipartisan behavior in congress and the Republicans are almost as much to blame as the democrats when it comes to approving pork.
Listen to this, President Obama has proposed some modest budget cuts in next year's budget, affecting a handful of domestic projects outside of the big defense and entitlement programs. But fully one-third of the nation's one hundred U.S. Senators are screaming bloody murder. Most of the cuts affect projects in these Senator's home districts - projects which could be postponed or eliminated.
But pork barrel spending is what these legislative patriots do to scoop up votes and keeping their jobs is of more importance to them than the financial well-being of the republic.
