In between calling Harrison Ford out for the ridiculous alien storyline in Indiana Jones 4, telling A-list stars like Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel and even Antonio Banderas that they smelled great, comparing biceps with The Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno and having a Tweet-off with Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas, Chris Van Vliet makes sure that when you sit down for an interview with him… you won't forget it; neither will anyone who watches it.
Chris brings Cleveland his unique take on everything going on in the world of entertainment news every weekday night during "The Buzz" on 19 Action News on CBS 19. He has also been heard as a contributor on 102.1 WDOK.
His passion for broadcasting goes all the way back to 1987 when a 4 year old Christopher Van Vliet would use his Fisher Price tape recorder to host "radio broadcasts". I'm willing to bet if you paid his mom enough, she would probably let you hear them.
Chris first got his feet wet in the world of broadcasting working behind the scenes at Rogers Community Television and AM570-News in Kitchener before landing his first on-air job as a news reporter and videographer for CHEX-TV in Peterborough just days after graduating.
From there Chris made the move to Vancouver where he worked as a host and producer on the entertainment magazine show "969″ which aired on Citytv and the MuchMusic owned station, Razer (now MTV2). He interviewed the hottest acts in music like The Fray, Amy Lee and James Blunt while also injecting a daily dose of sarcastic wit during the celebrity gossip segment, "Razer News." He could also be heard every Wednesday on Vancouver's highest rated afternoon radio program, "The Jenn and Joe Show" on CFUN 1410.
From there Chris returned to Ontario to become the entertainment host for SUN TV's entertainment show "Inside Jam" and a weekly addition to Toronto's #1 radio station, 99.9 Virgin Radio.
CVV, as his friends call him, is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University where he majored in Communication Studies and minored in Geography. He is a huge professional wrestling fan and worked as a ring announcer for CWR Wrestling and Stranglehold Wrestling.
