43 Forum: I Can Schools

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND, OH (5/23/10) - My guests Tim Goler and Marshall Emerson III talked about new charter schools to open in the fall.

Each guest has an extension background in education, both as teachers and each has played a role in successful charter schools before.

The I Can Schools are K-12 and have a strict uniform and behavior based curriculum.

The non-profit charter management company plans to open a couple of elementary schools in the fall.

Space has been leased from St. John Cantius school in Tremont and the former St. John Nepomucene in Slavic Village.

They are planning to help fill the specialty void left by the closing of 16 schools in Cleveland, especially, the math and science schools.

Cleveland is firing 545 teachers and other staff at the end of the school year.

If all goes well, I Can Schools management plans to open a high school in Cleveland, plus and elementary schools in Akron and Youngstown.
