UPDATE: CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A 40-year-old man dies after being tasered by police.

It happened around 8:30PM on New Year's Eve at Benham and East 113th.

Police say they pulled over Rodney Brown, Sr. because his headlights were not on, and he became combative once outside his vehicle.

He fled on foot, and was caught about a block and a half later.

Officers tasered Brown in order to bring him under control.

When EMS arrived on scene, they said it appeared as if Brown was suffering from cardiac arrest. He was rushed to University Hospital, where he died just before midnight.

Police tell 19 Action News that before the arrest, Brown appeared to be high on drugs.

The coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death.
