Deadly Fire: Opening arguments Monday for suspect in Cleveland's deadliest fire

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Opening arguments are scheduled to begin Monday for the man accused of starting Cleveland's deadliest fire.

Antun Lewis is scheduled to appear in Cleveland Federal Court. He's accused of setting the blaze on E.87th Street back in May 2005 that killed nine people.

Among the deceased were 8 kids and 1 adult.

Authorities tell 19 Action News that Lewis will not face the death penalty, a judge also added that Lewis has a low IQ and behavioral problems.

The victims were identified as 7-year-old Faith Jones, 12-year-old Shauntavia Mitchell, 13-year-old Miles Golden Cockfield, 13-year-old Antwon Jackson Jr., 14-year-old Moses William Jr., 15-year-old Devonte Carter, 12-year-old Maleeya Williams, and 33-year-old Media Carter. All of the victims died from smoke inhalation.
