CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - 19 Action News is breaking a bombshell in the case of the Cleveland Strangler.

According to a lawyer, suspected Cleveland Strangler Anthony Sowell's case will not include an insanity defense.

But attorney Rufus Sims, part of his legal team, says they're defense will focus on trying to keep Sowell off death row.

"Not guilty by reason of insanity is a medical and legal determination but it has an important medical component to it," Atty. Rufus Sims.

Cuyahoga county prosecutors say they are looking forward to their day in court with Sowell.

The accused serial killer is will be back in court Monday.

Sowell is accused of killing 11 women, their bodies were discovered in late October 2009.
