Dyngus Day: Cleveland's Polish American Community gets ready to celebrate all things Polish

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - This year the Easter weekend is extended for the Polish American population of Cleveland.  Dyngus Day comes the day after Easter.  It celebrates the end of Lenten season and all things Polish.

Dyngus Day celebrations have been around in cities like Buffalo for quite sometime, as a matter of fact Buffalo has made a reputation for being the big Dyngus Day place to be.  Some local Polish Americans want to share their holiday with the rest of us and make the north coast the place to be on this day.

As many will find out pierogies and a good polka can be quite a party.

Several Gordon Square or Battery Park area bars and restaurants are gearing up for what they hope with be the start of a proud new tradition.
