Friends of a man shot and killed by Cincinnati Police earlier this month will attend Wednesday's city council meeting looking for answers.

David Paul Hebert, also known as "Bones" was shot and killed by Cincinnati Police Officer Andrew Mitchell on April 18. Police responded to a cutting and found Hebert and an unidentified female. Police say Hebert was ordered to take his hands out of his pockets and when he did, he pulled a 13" switchblade out of his pocket and swiped it toward one of the officers and took a step.

Mitchell fired two rounds at Hebert, hitting him in the chest. Hebert was pronounced dead at the scene.

Friends say Hebert had no violent criminal history and no history of robbery, assault or resisting arrest. They say the circumstance surrounding Hebert's death have left many unanswered questions, and they plan to address those questions at Wednesday's city council meeting.

"David Hebert's family, friends, and neighbors want to make certain that the City of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Police Department investigate his death carefully and openly," a statement on a website devoted to Hebert reads. "If investigators find errors in police procedure and protocol, evidence of negligence or corruption, the City and Police Department must take the necessary steps to address these problems."

The city council meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
