Action taken in extreme animal abuse case

Major new developments in a story about extreme animal abuse in Texas.

Calves being beaten to death with pick axes and hammers. Investigator Scott Taylor has learned of news of arrests in the case he was first to report in April.

Sources with Mercy for Animals tell 19 Action News arrests warrants for E-6 cattle ranch owner Kirk Espenson, his ranch manager and five of his employees were just issued. 19 Action News confirmed that with the Castro County District Attorney's Office late Thursday morning.

The ranch's owner and his manager charged with misdemeanor. Five workers charged with felonies. All are cruelty to livestock charges.

Mercy for Animals gave the video showing the animal cruelty to Castro County District Attorney James Horton and he's seen enough to charge seven people on the ranch.
