43 Forum: Local police chief has seen it all

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND (6/12/11) - This week's guest is Patrick Berarducci with the Medina Police Department.  Chief Berarducci spent 29 and a half years with the U.S. Justice Department as an Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms/ATF agent.

He investigated the Oklahoma City Bombing and numerous other nation law enforcement related incidents.

During his career he received many awards among them the U. S. Treasury Department's medal of valor for heroism and bravery and The William French Smith Award from the U. S. Attorney General.

He's a six time recipient of the department's special achievement award and a five time recipient of the department's special act or service award.

We talked about the fight against terror and that we all need to be and stay alert to any and all threats foreign and domestic.

We also talked about the difference between his being with the ATF and now serving as a local police chief.

The basic difference he noted was that you live and stay put in one location as local law enforcement and that you get to know the people the area and their issues.
