Impatient driver causes fatal accident in Ashtabula County

ASHTABULA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

The Ashtabula Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a 3-vehicle fatal crash that happened Saturday night around 6:30 p.m. on SR 167 near SR 193 in Denmark Township.

Two of the vehicles were eastbound on SR 167 and the third was westbound on SR 167.

A pickup driven by Gabrial Laxton, 38 of Jefferson, who was eastbound on SR 167, stopped waiting for on-coming traffic so he could turn Left into a private drive. The other eastbound pickup driven by Nicholas Jackson, 19 of Pierpont attempted to pass the stopped truck on the left.

When he moved to pass the stopped vehicle, Jackson saw the westbound truck being driven by Frederick Siders, 45 of Jefferson.

Jackson swerved back to the right, but struck the rear of the stopped vehicle and went left of center again colliding with Siders' vehicle.

Siders was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Jackson was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Andover.

Laxton was taken to the Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula.

The Ashtabula County Coroner's Office is assisting with the investigation and the crash remains under investigation.
