43 Forum: Cleveland Minister Saying Goodbye to NE Ohio

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND (7/24/11) - My special guest, the Rev. Marvin McMickle, has been the pastor at Antioch Baptist Church here in Cleveland for more than 20-years.

Rev. McMickle, a member of CSU's Board of Trustees, is past president of Cleveland's NAACP, The Urban League of Cleveland, The Shaker Heights School Board and The Karamu House Performing Arts Center.

He ran twice for the U.S. House and once for the U.S. Senate.

He also served as a grand jury foreman for Cuyahoga County.

The reason he's my guest on this edition of WUAB 43 Forum is that we're losing his influence and leadership.

Rev. McMickle is leaving Northeast Ohio to become president of the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in New York.

We talked about a wide range of issues including religion, politics, social and economic concerns.

For the record, I've visited Antioch Baptist Church many times.

I've been Master of Ceremony for community events including town hall meetings there.

That being said, Rev. McMickle has been a moral and social voice for justice and has taught a the Ashland Seminary.

He takes over as president of Crozer Divinity School full time in January, 2012.
