No Way! Prosecutors file motion to block Anthony Sowell retrial

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cuyahoga County Prosecutors filed a motion Friday to not allow convicted serial killer Anthony Sowell get a retrial .

Last week, Sowell was sentenced to death for killing 11 women, but his defense team quickly asked for a new trial largely because of what the jury foreperson said in an interview right after the trial concluded. The female juror claimed that Anthony Sowell winked at her, but she never mentioned it at the time.

The defense is trying to say the juror may have been biased against Sowell as a result of the wink in court.

Prosecutors argue no juror misconduct or bias occurred, pointing out that jurors also mentioned during the same interview that they decided the case solely on the law.
