SOUTH EUCLID, OH (WOIO) -

South Euclid Police Department and Fire Department were called out to a house on Eastway Road Saturday morning just after 4AM for a report of an unresponsive one-month-old baby girl.

The Fire Department transported the infant to Hillcrest Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

In a press release to the media Detective Sergeant Ben Paxisi said, "We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this matter; Unfortunately, due to the nature of this incident and in order to maintain the integrity of this investigation, we will not be answering any inquiries from media outlets specifically relating to this investigation. Thank you for your professionalism and understanding."

The uncle of the little girl told 19 Action News that the grandma of the infant was taken into custody.

He said no one did anything wrong, but they were holding her for questioning.  He also said there was blood in the bed.

The case has been turned over to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office. They are not commenting on the case at this time.
