AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Akron Police have arrested a man for Child Enticement after he tried to get her name, become "secret friends" with her.

A 13-year-old girl was leaving the library on Kenmore Boulevard to head home when a man in a dark colored minivan pulled into a used car lot near 13th Street SW.

The man, identified as John David Goode Jr, 36 or Akron, tried to talk with the young girl, asking her name so he could look her up on Facebook.

He told her they could be "secret friends."  She ran home and told her parents.

The girl told police she recognized the male as a library worker from the library on Kenmore Boulevard.

Workers at the library say Goode has been suspended from his job pending the investigation.

Published articles in Akron also list Goode as a write-in candidate for the Akron School Board in the November elections.
