MUNSON TWP, OH (WOIO) -
An incident Saturday evening during a high school sporting event at Notre Dame Cathedral Latin High School have some people calling it a riot -- while others say it was just confusion.
Notre Dame varsity basketball was playing Ashtabula Lakeside High School at home, a 7:30pm game. This was Notre Dame's first game of the season.
The game ended with a 2 point difference in score. The confusion began after the game, during the player's handshake. Apparently more than a dozen people from the stands came onto the court.
Police responded and a juvenile was arrested. So was Penny Lynn Miller who lives in Ashtabula. She is facing a disorderly conduct charge.
Notre Dame President Sister Jacquelyn Gusdane says it was not a riot.
"At the end of the game there seemed to be a little confusion on the floor and that's all we know at this point," Notre Dame President Sister Jacquelyn Gusdane.
Geauga County Sheriff's on duty at the game called for all available units to respond. Chester Twp., Munson Twp., Chardon and other departments were called to assist.
The gym was evacuated as well as the campus. The crowd was under control by 9:45 p.m.
There are no known injuries at this time.
The Geauga County Sheriff's Department will be reviewing any game tapes or video footage during their investigation, which is ongoing at this time.
