CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
County Prosecutor Bill Mason announced that
after a five day trial a jury returned its verdict against Stacey Matthews.
The
jury found Matthews guilty of six counts of felonious assault. A sentencing
date is currently pending.
On April 19, 2011, Matthews, 23, of Cleveland, recruited co-defendant
Cedrica Johnson, 24, of East Cleveland, to help her confront two females ages
17 and 19, both of whom were waiting in line to interview for a position at
McDonald's.
After Matthews drove to the McDonald's, Johnson exited the vehicle,
and threatened the victims with scissors. Both Matthews and Johnson began a
confrontation where a fight ensued with the victims. McDonald's employees attempted to break up the
confrontation when Matthews got into her car, reversed it and struck five
victims, including the owner of the McDonald's.
Both Matthews and Johnson fled
the area in Matthews' car. Cleveland Police located the car near East 107th
Street and St. Clair. Johnson was present and arrested. Matthews fled and
eventually turned herself in to Cleveland Police.
On December 22, 2011, after a bench trial, Judge Robert McClelland found
Johnson guilty of assault, a misdemeanor of the first degree, for her
participation in the incident. A sentencing date is currently pending.
