CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Faced with tougher new sanctions by the United States and the European union over its nuclear ambitions, Iran has responded now with a display of militant bravado.

Iran's army commander warned earlier this week that an American aircraft carrier that left the Persian Gulf through the strategic Straits of Hormuz should not ever return. The warning implied that the American ship would be attacked. Well, we ought to respond with a threat or two of our own.

Roughly one-fifth of the world's oil flows through that passage and American war ships have been on duty there for decades to make sure that the tin horn sheiks of that region don't decide to disrupt the world economy.  What we ought to do is turn that aircraft carrier around and dare the mullahs in Tehran to do something about it.

Write and let me know what you think.  I'm Bill Applegate and here's the address.
