My guest and I talked about some changes in
benefits and processes our viewers should know about and react too.
We informed viewers that starting in March of 20-13 social security recipients
will either have to have direct deposit to a bank or credit union account or
money from their benefit checks will go onto a Direct Express Debit
Master card.
Brandon Smith encouraged recipients to take care of making a
choice sooner rather than later.
We also talked when one can begin
receiving benefits and how when you start taking payments can significantly
affect the amount one receives.
Smith talked about the number of offices
there are in Greater Cleveland and the fact that one can now do everything
online.
Smith explained there's a cost of living increase this year and
he talked about how to apply for retirement or spouse's benefits as well as
adult disability and assistance with medicare prescription drug costs.
He
also informed our Hispanic viewers that there is now an new Spanish language
website to help them navigate the Social Security Administration System.
