CHARDON, OH (WOIO) -
As the families of two
more of the Chardon High School shooting victims prepare to bury their sons,
dozens of community members flocked to Chardon Square looking for comfort.
Marissa Steiner reads the
St. Joseph's prayer written on the candle she brought to the square Sunday
afternoon. "You just don't know what to do. So you bring some candles..
and flowers. Our hearts are still aching" says Steiner.
The downtown gazebo has become a place where
anyone can come to pay their respects to the Chardon High School shooting
victims. Residents can view candles, flowers, pictures and words of healing and
strength for the victims' families.
Chardon Square now serves
as a reminder of who was lost nearly one week ago, and what will never be
forgotten.
Monday morning, February
27th, suspected student gunman TJ Lane reportedly opened fire at
Chardon High School shooting five students. Three of the students later died.
Lane was taken into
custody about an hour after the shooting and was charged Thursday with three
counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one
count of felonious assault.
