The drums of war are beating loudly along the Potomac these days as the Obama Administration, responding to pressure from Israel, has ramped-up the rhetoric against Iran.  Some in Washington are even comparing the mood to 2003 in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq.

The pressure to do something about Iran's nuclear ambitions escalated this week with the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to attend the annual meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. President Obama, speaking to that group, took his hardest stance yet by saying his policy is not about containment but rather the prevention of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons---and sternly he said, "I'm not bluffing".

Well, the president in a political year is trying to satisfy a large Pro-Israel constituency but - like a lot of observers- we think the saber rattling needs to be toned down. There is no indication that Israel is in immediate danger—despite what its leaders claim-- and the last thing the world and the fragile economy needs right now is the threat of war…much less war itself.

Write and let me know what you think.  I'm Bill Applegate and here's the address.
