Don't throw that junk mail away before you read it

Every single night I open my mailbox, I start swearing up a storm when I see all the junk mail in there.

Since I shred everything, it means just one more thing I have to do.

But privacy experts say you may want to some reading first, here's why.

Some of those letters are privacy notices from your credit card company.  Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act they have to send them once a year.

The goal is to inform the consumer what information is being collected and shared.

And importantly, it gives you the option to opt out.
