AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) -

Police are investigating a shooting in Avondale where a 4-year-old was hit.

Police say they were called to the 800 block of Blair Ave. for reports of a shooting. There they found a 4-year-old boy shot in the leg. The child was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to be ok.

"It's important for the citizens in the neighborhood to know that this can not stand and the police department and the city are pulling out all its resources to resolve this and bring whoever is responsible to justice," said Lt. Murice Robinson.

"Whoever did this, they're punks. They're punks and they're cowards and I can almost guarantee you we're gonna get ya. It's as simple as that," said City Councilman Cecil Thomas.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident. They say that the child was caught in the crossfire of another shooting, but have not released any information on any suspects.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
