Grand Jury indicts six men in shootout that killed innocent woman

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A Grand Jury has now indicted six men for a shootout that left an innocent woman dead.

Elissa Hereford was shot while looking out her window after a gun battle erupted in the street.

The six suspects are facing aggravated murder charges and 19 Action News has found one of them has a conviction for killing someone as a juvenile.

At 16, Devonte Swift who is now 19, was sent to Juvenile Jail for killing an innocent teen. Three years ago Swift was driving a stolen van when he hit and killed another teen.

The 44-year-old Hereford was caught in the crossfire of the shooting on E. 95th Street last month.

The preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects were exchanging gunfire in the 2200 block of East 95th when Hereford looked out her second floor window and was shot during the exchange of gunfire. Hereford was taken by ambulance to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she died from injuries.
