The Urban League of
Greater Cleveland is a non-profit social service organization.
It is connected
to the National Urban League as one of 97 affiliates in 36 states.
Part
of the Urban League's mission is to improve the economic, cultural, social and
educational conditions affecting all citizens of Cuyahoga County.
My guests, Marshal Mockabee and Donna Dabbs and I talked about ways the Urban League is bouncing back from some
economic and management problems it had. We discussed the programs it has
for youth and educational components teaching youth about proper behavior,
respect and entrepreneurship. We also talked about the Cuyahoga small
business development center run by the Urban League. It provides services
for minority communities who want to either start a business or further the
growth of his or her business. They provide group instruction in the
beginning and switches to individual instruction once a business shows signs of
improvement and stability. The Urban League further champions social
issues to include voting rights, job creation, job discrimination and other
social justice issues.

There is a bit a problem though and it will be finding the qualified and educated workers to fill the jobs especially in the medical industry.
