In this tough political year Republicans lunged at the opportunity to connect the Obama Administration with the recent scandal involving the general services administration. You may have seen the videos showing GSA employees enjoying outrageously expensive junkets and parties all at the expense of taxpayers.
The highlight of which was that gauzy picture of GSA Commissioner Jeff Neely -- relaxing in a Las Vegas hot tub -- wine goblets nearby and not a care in the world. Now, with this picture, Neely becomes the latest poster boy for federal government waste and abuse of taxpayer funds.
But he is hardly the first folks, and presidential politics aside, this behavior on the part of government employees is bi-partisan. They all do it— Democrat and Republican alike. It is a mentality -- the same entitlement mindset that tells Cleveland Firefighters that it's OK to scam the system to get paid while you aren't working. Regrettably, and regardless of ideology, what we are confronting here is a decadent culture that permeates our government apparatus from the very top to bottom.
