Fairfield Township Fire Chief is fired

Posted: Updated:
FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

Fairfield Township Fire Chief David Downie has been terminated.

The decision came down this afternoon. He was let go on the grounds of inappropriate communication with other township employees. The township said that Downie told an officer that he didn't have "time to babysit those responsible for equipment purchases."

The township had listened to testimony for weeks before making their decision.

Downie had been Fairfield's fire chief for 25 years.
