Police beefing up security at Crocker Park

WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) -

Just about 24 hours after that deadly theatre shooting in Aurora, Colorado movie-goers in Westlake say the tragedy won't keep them from watching the same movie, The Dark Knight Rises.

Anticipating big crowds for the latest Batman movie, just as it did with the Avengers, the theatre in Westlake last week hired off-duty police officers to provide security.

However, after last night's Colorado shooting Regal Cinemas added more patrols to the theatre in Westlake.

In fact, the days of folks dressing up in costume to see movies like The Dark Knight Rises and the Avengers could be over.

Earlier today, AMC theatres announced none of its chains would allow costumes that will make other guests feel uncomfortable.

The man in the middle of the movie massacre, 24-year-old James Holmes.

Holmes, a North Aurora resident, reportedly wore body armor and a gas mask.

Many witnesses thought he was part of a stunt.

Law enforcement officials said the gunman went to the back door of the theater, propped it open, "geared up" and threw a smoke bomb or tear gas grenade, according to CNN.

Holmes is suspected of opening fire, killing at least 12 people and injuring 58 more at the Aurora, Colorado movie theater.

He's expected to make a court appearance Monday.
