Medina couple expecting quintuplets!

Posted: Updated:
MEDINA, OH (WOIO) -

A Medina couple is on the verge of a unique, dramatic lifestyle change. Their little family of three is about to become eight!

Leann and Jake Alferio are staring down a baby bonanza. Leann is pregnant with five babies, quintuplets!

"I try not to look too far ahead because I do get overwhelmed when I think about five babies being here all at once," Leann said.

Next week Leann will go in the hospital on complete bed rest. Her due date is early December, but her doctor says the babies will most likely come in October, joining big sister Lexi.

"The stress level is very high,"added Leann. "I know how hard it was with one, so I multiply that by five and it makes me very anxious."

"I'm excited and I'm scared," said soon-to-be big sister Lexi. "I don't really know how, one, I'm going to get sleep and two, how I'm going to deal with it."

"The realization that my Browns season tickets were gone kind of hit me like a ton of bricks," said Jake. "But I'm excited and ready for them to be here."

Leann and Jake are teachers in the Brunswick District, and the summers off will help. So will Leann's mom, who has volunteered for diaper duty.

Fellow teachers in Brunswick are helping already, with baby showers and a diaper drive.
