Attorney for admitted Chardon school shooter seeks extension

GEAUGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

The attorney for the admitted Chardon High School shooter has filed for an extension to enter a not guilty plea by reason of insanity.

The attorney states he wants more time to evaluate TJ Lane.

Lane admitted to the February 27 shooting, but offered no motive. 17-year-old Russell King, Jr., 16-year-old Daniel Parmertor and 16-year-old Demetrius Hewlin were killed. 17-year-old Nick Walczak remains paralyzed from the waist down. 18-year-old Joy Rickers and a 6th, unidentified victim were treated and released from the hospital.

As of now, a pre-trial is scheduled for August 20th at 10 a.m.
