Man chased down, killed in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man who was chased down and killed.

The Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 20-year-old Darius Lewis.

Police were called to the 13000 block of Argus Avenue just before 11 p.m. Friday for a male who had been shot.

Officers located Lewis with a gunshot wound to the chest.  He was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where he later died.

After investigating officers learned that the Lewis was standing with a group of people in the 13400 block of Kelso Avenue when a white Buick Century stopped in front of them.  A male known to the victim got out and started shooting at him.

Lewis fled, and the suspect chased him continuing to shoot until Lewis on Argus.

The suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Byron James of Cleveland, then fled in the white Buick.  The license plate of the car is FKD9646.

Police have issued an Aggravated Murder arrest warrant for his arrest

The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information on the whereabouts of the white Buick Century or Byron James contact the Division of Police Homicide Unit at 216-623-5464.
