Well, this is the time of the year when people take to the open roads for their summer vacations. As kids we would see how many different license plates we could spot. There was Florida, the "Sunshine State." Georgia, with "Georgia on my Mind." New Hampshire with "Live Free or Die" on the plates. It's a bit extreme but at least it says something.
And then there is Ohio. At one point it was "Seat Belts Fastened?" Really! We also have a plate "Birthplace of Aviation" which will never be better than North Carolina's "First in Flight". Yes, the Wright brothers were born in Ohio, but the flying was in Kitty Hawk.
Now comes Ohio with a new plate next year with no slogan at all on the bottom. Instead there are 46, count them 46 slogans embedded into the background of the plate with gems like Ohio Caverns, Beautiful Farmlands, Put-In-Bay, and Walleye. Only tailgaters will be close enough to read them. Perhaps the governor can step in and return our license plate to a simpler time. For decades it simply said, "Ohio. The Buckeye State".

There is a bit a problem though and it will be finding the qualified and educated workers to fill the jobs especially in the medical industry.
