TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Toledo police confirm 20-year-old Eric Fisher of Point Place  was killed in a car crash early Tuesday on Summit Street in north Toledo.

Fisher was the passenger in a car driven by 21-year-old Zachary Fisher who was injured. Police say the driver was speeding and went off the road around 2:30 a.m. The vehicle hit two utility poles, then re-entered the roadway, spinning and causing Eric Fisher to be ejected.

The car was then hit by an oncoming vehicle driven by 24-year-old Chancellor Smith of Toledo. He received minor injuries.

At some point, the Fishers' vehicle split in half. Both were taken to a local hospital where Eric Fisher was pronounced deceased. The official condition of Zachary is not known, but first responders called his injuries serious.

Summit Street was closed for several hours while the crash was investigated and the street was cleaned.
