Driver in Streetsboro crash turns herself in to police

Posted: Updated:

A woman wanted for a Sept. 7 accident in Streetsboro turned herself in on Thursday, Sept. 13.

A warrant had been issued for her arrest of Cynthia Hanish, 48, of Streetsboro, who has been charged with aggravated vehicular assault, a third-degree felony. Police said she was driving a 2009 black Ford F150 eastbound on Tinkers Green Drive and entered the state Route 43 intersection in front of a blue 1998 Ford Windstar driven by Shawn Freyhauf, 31, of Mantua.

The collision sent the F150 off the road and it hit several objects, including a house on South Sagramore. Freyhauf's wife, a passenger in the Windstar, suffered a broken collarbone.

Police said Hanish failed to stop for a stop sign before entered the intersection. Moments before the crash, she hit a mailbox and a speed limit sign on Tinkers Green.

A blood test revealed that Hanish's blood-alcohol content was 0.177 percent, police said.
