North Toledo house torn down after 4th fire

Posted: Updated:

TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - A house in the 1,600 block of Mulberry near Bancroft caught fire just after 1 a.m. Tuesday. It's the fourth time the house has caught fire.

Just last week, it was one of two houses with fires called in minutes apart.

The house is vacant, and there are no injuries. It was already marked as Code Red by the city, which is a safety precaution for firefighters. They knew not to enter the home because it was vacant, and they knew there were dangerous structural problems.

Additionally, the house was already marked to be torn down. After crews extinguished the flames early Tuesday, the structure was razed. Demolition crews had the house torn down by 4:30 a.m., and firefighters then left the scene.
