Two companies giving jobs to released prisoners

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Ridge Project and Perrysburg's Trainco truck driving school have partnered together to give recently released prisoners an opportunity to re-enter the work force.

The new partnership will be working with prisoners both in and out of prisons in Mansfield and Orient Ohio. Candidates will be felons on minimum levels of security about six months from being released.

The new program is expected to launch in 30 days with a goal of certifying 120 men with their CLD license.

The main goal is to allow convicted felons the education and opportunity for a second chance at life.

"By training them to be in this field they will not only be successful for their families but as they reintegrate into society they will become an asset not a liability," said Ron Tijerina, co-executive director of The Ridge Project.

The partnership eliminates the problem of convicted felons finding a job. Once the drivers are trained they will have a job at PI&I Motor Express. Trainco truck driving school just hired three additional instructors to meet the training demand.
