NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) -
Bond was set Wednesday morning for a man who told police that he killed his girlfriend after an argument.
Jose Garcia Martinez, 31, of Norwood has been charged with Murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Gladis Son, 31, also of Norwood.
Martinez is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on a $1 million bond.
Martinez came to the Norwood Police Department Tuesday morning and admitted to officers that he and the victim were arguing Monday night and that he had killed her. Police were on their way to check on the victim when concerned neighbors called 911 after finding her in her Montgomery Road apartment before police could arrive on scene.
According to information released by Norwood Police, Gladis Son appears to have been struck in the head with a statue and investigators are looking into the possibility that she was strangled to death. The Hamilton County Coroner's Office will determine the final cause of death.
The victim and suspect have a child together who is now staying with family members. Mr. Martinez will be processed at the Norwood Police Department then transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
Witnesses say that Son was a manager at the Taco Bell/KFC restaurant across the street from the apartment.
