TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Honor Flight Northwest Ohio will conclude its 2012 flying season on Wednesday by taking 49 Korean War veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and several other military memorials.

This will be the first time that a sizeable number of Korean War veterans have been taken on a Northwest Ohio Honor Flight.

Additionally, 35 World War II veterans will also be on board.

Honor Flight has taken more than 1,100 veterans to Washington on 27 flights since 2008.

The community is always invited to meet veterans at the airport. They departed in the morning around 7:30 a.m. The return time on Wednesday is between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. All that is needed to gain access to the Grand Aire hangar is a current/valid picture ID. Children under age 18 do not need an ID if they are accompanied by a parent, a guardian, or another adult.
