MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -

A man in his 30's has died after a high speed crash Friday morning in Middletown.

Police responded to the 3000 block of Tytus Avenue just before 3 a.m. for a report with a traffic crash with injuries.

Upon arrival, police found a gold Mitsubishi had been traveling westbound on Tytus Avenue, went off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

A witness told police that the car had been traveling at a high rate of speed.

The lone occupant, a male in his 30's, was pulled from the car by a passerby after the car caught on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and the driver was taken to Atrium Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Other witnesses placed the driver at a bar earlier in the evening. Police say he had numerous driver license suspensions.

Police have not released the driver's name.
