Newly appointed Cuyahoga County Prosecutor promises change

Posted: Updated:
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A new Cuyahoga County Prosecutor started on Monday, and he's already promising changes that residents will notice in their wallet and on the streets.

Timothy McGinty is taking over for Bill Mason, who stepped down early to join Cleveland law firm Bricker & Eckler.

During a news conference on Monday, McGinty said he plans to cut costs and bring in more money from fines and attorney fees, promising at least another $10M for the county in 2013.

He also said his office will spend less time on minor crimes and more time on serious criminals. He said the county should never have another Anthony Sowell.
