TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - A man was rescued hanging from a window in south Toledo early Tuesday after a fire broke out in his kitchen.

Crews were called to an apartment in the 2200 block of Rockspring Road.

A man who lives on the first floor had been cooking. He thought he turned on the oven, but instead turned on a burner on the stove, which lit oils from the food on fire.

People on the second floor woke up to smoke and alarms.

When firefighters arrived, they saw a man hanging out of his window.

"They came with the ladder, got me down. But I was up there for a good 15, 20 minutes, just hanging," said Antonio Jordan, who lived in the building. "It was a bad situation."

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. They say there were no injuries, and no damage to surrounding homes.
