Suspects sought in store clerk's murder

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cleveland Division of Police is asking for the public's help in identifying and bringing to justice two men wanted in the homicide of Duane C. Jacobs, who was killed at the YaYa Market on Cleveland's east side.

The deadly shooting happened at the store at East 99th and Union on Tuesday, September 25 at 9 p.m.

The preliminary investigation reveals that the victim, Duane Jacobs, worked as a store clerk  when two men entered the store.  Once inside, one of the suspects asked the store owner, who was also on scene, for change.  One of the suspects then produced a handgun and attempted to rob the store.

The store owner then obtained a handgun and an exchange of gunfire ensued. During the gunfire exchange, Jacobs was hit multiple times. After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene in a silver minivan northbound on E. 99th Street. The store owner is not reporting injury and it is unknown at this time if either of the suspects were shot.
