LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A fatality accident caused tie-ups on a major Longview road Thursday morning.

Just before 7:30 Thursday, Longview Police responded to the 5400 block of West Loop 281 with hydraulic jaws.

Witnesses told officers a gray Ford F-250 driven by Richard Townsend of Beckville, drifted into oncoming traffic and struck a 2006 silver Honda CR-V.

The CR-V spun, striking a white Chevrolet 2500 truck driven by 49-year-old Guy Malcom Reed, of Gilmer.

Longview Police say 52-year-old Brenda Ann Scheid, of Gilmer, the driver of the CR-V, died in the crash.

Tyler Fire Department Captain Kenneth Scheid is the husband of the victim. Kenneth was honored in 2009 with the Life Saving Award, after he performed the Heimlich maneuver on a man at the Andrew's Center, who was choking. Captain Scheid managed to dislodge the food, saving the man.

Townsend was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say Reed received minor injuries, but was not taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

Both eastbound lanes on the Loop were shut down as a result of the accident.
