Voting today? What you need to know before heading to the polls
There is some important information you need to know before heading to the polls today.
In Ohio, all polling locations will open until 7:30 p.m. Your ballot must be cast in your precinct at your designated polling location. If you're not sure where your polling place is located, you can contact your county board of elections or click HERE to search for your polling place online.
Be sure to bring along an acceptable form of identification. The following can be used in the State of Ohio:
current and valid photo ID card issued by the State of Ohio or the United States government
original or copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck
original or copy of a current government check or other government document, other than a voter registration acknowledgement notification mailed by the board of elections, that shows the voter's name and current address.
If the address on your Ohio ID is old you'll still be able to cast a ballot, as long as your current address is printed in the official poll list of registered voters for that precinct.
Don't have any of the above documents? Not a problem! You will still be able to vote using a provisional ballot.
Need a ride to the polls? RTA has teamed up with Cuyahoga County Board of Elections and Google to help get you there. They have a special "Election Day Trip Planner" on their website. When you type in your address, the website will show your polling location on a map, along with transit, walking, biking and driving directions to that location.
