Police: Man shot in the face in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cleveland Division of Police Fifth District Detective Bureau is currently investigating the felonious assault shooting of a 49 year old male which occurred Thursday morning.

It happened just before 11 a.m. 

Fifth District officers responded to 9801 Empire Avenue for a male shot. According to witnesses the victim was in the back seat of a Chrysler PT Cruiser parked in front of 9801 Empire Avenue along with three other individuals.  A male with a gun approached the car on the passenger side and pointed the gun at victim.  The suspect said "Get out of the car", then shot the victim in the face.  He and fled on foot.

One passenger in the car fled the scene, another passenger ran into the address of 9801 Empire Avenue to call police and the third passenger drove the victim to the Cleveland Clinic.

The victim was evaluated at the Cleveland Clinic and then life-flighted to Metro.

Police are still looking for the suspect.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Fifth District Detective Bureau at 216-623-5518.
