Driver dies after deer crashes through windshield

NEW RUSSIA TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

A 29-year-old killed after an accident involving a deer in New Russia Township.

The accident happened Wednesday at 12:20 a.m. on Baumhart Road.

As Robert P. Trimble was driving, a deer entered the road and struck his vehicle. Upon impact, the deer came through the windshield of Trimble's vehicle, striking him in the upper torso area.

Trimble's vehicle traveled off the road, striking a mailbox and a rock before coming to a final rest in a yard north of the collision.

Trimble sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to Allen Memorial Hospital by Life Care EMS, and later flown to Cleveland Metro Hospital by Metro Life Flight.

Trimble was later pronounced dead at Cleveland Metro Hospital.

Speed and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash.
